Rascal Flatts!!

Lindsay ended up being home this week after her grandpa passed away. Despite the sad situation there, I benefited by getting to see her!!! Twice in 6 weeks... HOW LUCKY!

Even luckier, she invited me to use two of her uncle's VIP passes to the Taylor Swift/Rascal Flatts concert on Saturday! I was already excited to see her home from Haiti, and the concert was a huge addition.

We had a blast at the concert, and it was so good to have her home for a brief time. Her uncle took great care of us from VIP access to the Green Room to front row parking in a special lot. I've never done a concert VIP-style, and I'm not sure I ever want to attend one without it again. :)

Oh, and the last four times Linds has been home, we've forgotten to get pictures. So this post is a MIRACLE!!

The guitar-style toilets in the Green Room bathrooms... Sweet!

Taylor Swift is stinkin' adorable! A fantastic performer.

Rascal Flatts, up close and personal.

And one more close-up, just to be sure we got a good shot!

Good night, Y'all!!

Night on the Town

Friday night was an exciting night for us to get out on the town! Because the CEO of Firestone is on the board at the Zoo, the company had tickets for Zoobilation. And because I work for a small division of Firestone, and my boss likes me, I was invited to join the big-wigs for this black tie affair fundraiser for the Indianapolis Zoo. Over 70 local restaurants had booths throughout the grounds featuring a few of their favorite appetizers, dinners or desserts. There was also a bar for every 5 food stations. Ah-mazing!

We had free reign of the grounds, getting to venture from restaurant to restaurant, filling our bellies full. We also had an incredible time people watching, from Indy's news teams to scantily clad women to Gary Brackett of the Colts! Definitely a who's who of Indy, and somehow we got to go.

This guy was sorta creeping me out and sorta cute. So, why not let him put his arm around me for a photo? After all, I just won a $50 gift card plus a free appetizer at his booth to Ruth's Chris!!

The koala exhibit was open for us to see while we were there. They are only in town until September. Beautiful creatures!

It was such a great experience to be part of Zoobilation this year. Mike was incredible, despite his bulging disc that had debilitated him all week, he stuck it out for four hours. It was a bit reminiscent of our engagement day, which of course made me a little lovey-dovey when we stood in the Dolphin Dome, the exact place where Mike proposed.

We had a wonderful time during the whole event and are hopeful to be invited back next year!

I loved the skyline from the White River....

Summer Time, and the Livin' is Easy!

Saturday Mike and I went to my parents' house for a birthday brunch. Mom and my sisters made the most wonderful spread of egg casserole, blueberry muffins, fruit salad, coffee, etc. It was delightfully relaxing to enjoy breakfast with the family and to just sit back and chat. They spoiled me greatly and made me feel special.

Following that, we went to see mom and dad's house in process. It's ah-MAZ-ing! The outside is 90% complete, and the drywall had just been hung inside, so it looks like a house! They were supposed to begin painting this week, which will make it look even more finished. It's exciting to think they'll be in their dream home in a matter of months.

That afternoon, the Jameses and Lands came over to spend an afternoon in the sun with us. We had so much fun playing Baggo (even though Sonya is too good for it), Bocce Ball, and our newly developed POOL baggo. Plenty of food and drinks were enjoyed, and the weather could not have been more perfect. I wish I could replay Saturday every day. It was the perfect way to enjoy summer!

We couldn't resist taking many, many pictures of the adorable Sarah...

Mike loves that girl...

Uh oh, daddy is influencing her early!

Happy Birthday to ME

Friday was my birthday. The big 2-5. Holy smokes, I'm 25! And Mike did not mind reminding me for the whole week prior that I am getting old. Yes, he's 18 months older than me, but I'm a lady, and ladies should be young forever.

That's why my birthday card envelope read as follows: "For my vibrant, youthful, forgiving wife on her quarter century birthday." He had to throw in 'forgiving' to counteract the 'quarter century.'

Despite the grief I received, it was a wonderful day! My parents came to my office to take me out to lunch. They brought pink lilies and jewelry. Wonderful! Then Mike and I got dressed up and went downtown for an incredible dinner at S.I. The food was fantastic, the restaurant was so very trendy, and the company absolutely perfect. Afterwards, we went for a very short walk on the canal, remembering when we did that for our first date. This walk, however, was interrupted by lightning and thunder so we headed home.

I will spare you more details because I know you really just read blogs to see pictures! So, here you go....

Oh Happy Day!

Memorial Day was a happy day for me.... If you've heard me complain at all over the last six months about my washer & dryer, this picture should explain all of my happiness!
