Gatlinburg Getaway

For MLK Jr weekend, the Johnsons, Mayers, Sabelhauses and Macks took a little trip down to Gatlinburg sans-children. Of course we're the only ones that doesn't apply to, but it was wonderful to get away regardless. We spent a lot of time just lounging around and eating far too much. The Wii got a lot of use, like any get together these days. Jen and I rocked out on the guitar for a while, too!

We played a bunch of games, hung out in the hot tub, played pool, talked lots and lots, the girls shopped and the guys went hiking. It was a perfect weekend in the mountains! It was also a perfect chance for our friends to have an adult weekend.

After playing many games, having a few drinks and being super comfy, the inside jokes started building up. This is for the gang: CW, quick trip to the loft, Rosa Parks.

Can't wait til next year!

"Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that."

We spent a great day at the RCA dome on Sunday....

5th row seats, on the aisle, in the "Reggie Wayne" section.
The viewing was fantastic, and the first half of the game was exciting. We thought, "A close game is more fun than a blowout, so we're okay with this".... until about 4:00 PM. Then trouble began.

The COLTS LOST!!! It was a terrible ending to what we thought would be an incredible season. Super Bowl Champs twice in a row would be ... SUPER! The last game in the RCA Dome ended up as a bust, and possibly Tony Dungy's last season ended sadly.

Mayers & Hair Bangers

forgot to post these great pictures of us with the Mayers! We met up with them at the Vogue for the Hairbangers' Ball a while back. I, unfortunately, was exhausted from traveling, so the evening wasn't as energy-packed as it could have been. The pics are still fun, though!

Deep Thoughts by Bizzy Jayne

So that's a ridiculous title, but Mike created it for my ridiculous thoughts. (Check out THESE deep thoughts, which we love) I have really random yet involved thoughts that I like to share with my husband afterwards. The other day it was about how my jeans fit over a period of time or something totally stupid like that.

On January 2, 2008, I had a deep thought about the year ahead. Heather created her huge list of resolutions, and it got me thinking about my list of predicitions for 2008. I couldn't get past the first one, so here it is: I predict that at least two of my good friends will announce their pregnancies this year. Well, crap on my head and call me Liza -- the very next day we got a call with the first baby announcement! I am good! Actually, God is good. We're so very excited! I just had to be patient to publish it. :)

If I have other deep thoughts for you, I'll pass them along. Most of them will probably end with Mike's ears, but the really good ones will make it through to you.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Family Wiiunion pictures!

The girlies and me doing what we do best-- making food in the kitchen. My favorite moment was when all 8 of us were mission-minded in the kitchen, fulfilling our dinner duties. The bustling room, wafting scents, continuous laughter & movement and general ambiance was incredible.

Self photo while hanging out on the bed. It was so much fun to relax and lay around just catching up!

A delicious family bbq dinner made by Aim. Our evening was right out of a movie-- eight of us enjoying eachother's company so much. Laughter, reliving childhood moments and making memories the whole night.

Family Reunion/Wiiunion

This weekend was what we call our "Family Reunion." Three of my best girlfriends, our husbands and I spent the weekend together in Minooka, IL. Stacy & Dustin Grove, Aim & Jason Domingo and the newly Bonnie & Kevin Gillespie, as well as we, the Macks, reunited at the Domingos' for a weekend of fun!

We had a blast playing guys vs. girls in Catch Phrase. If "Glassburg," "Gerald Ford," or "Curing Rabies" makes you laugh, then you might understand an inkling of our weekend. It was absolutely wonderful to catch up with such great friends. We each live hours away from the others, but our reunions are full of laughs and love.

Stace was the official photog for the weekend, so once I get pictures from her, I will post them. For now, you can enjoy my one photo for the weekend: the Groves before bed. We snuggled up tight with four couples in a 2 bedroom house. The Groves & Gillespies generously took air matresses in the living room. Good times, good times.

Oh, and all future reunions will also be Wiiunions as the men loved playing the Wii (of course.) We had to PRY them away to spend quality time with their wives. For our next reunion, we plan to send the men away for some gaming while we do some oohing and aahing. (more to come on that note...)

Springtime?!

What on earth is going on?? Today was 60 degrees warmer than last Thursday. Last Thursday I couldn't feel my fingers for 10 minutes after walking outside. Today, I didn't even wear a jacket outside.
In honor of the warmth, you get my legs... because they were bare today. Last week I wore sweatpants and a winter coat when I left the gym. Today I threw a lightweight jacket over my tank top only because it's January. I then rolled my windows down and drove home. It's JANUARY!!
After the gym, we enjoyed the warmth with steaks on the grill! What a crazy place we live in. I do love 60 degree weather, but it's SO strange in January!!

What's in a name?

I'm not sure if other couples enjoy it as much as we do, but we sure have a lot of fun coming up with names for future baby Macks... both real and also nevergonnahappens. There is no baby in sight, but if you're interested in a little fun, check out: http://www.infoplease.com/spot/celebrity-baby-names.html. UNbelievable that celebrities can get away with some of these names. Frank Zappa's children must be thrilled to call him dad.

We're thinking of naming our firstborn "Inspector Gadget Mack." Whaddya think?

Happy 2008!

New Year's Eve was a throwback to the Wabash days for this house... We had a bunch of Wabash men and their wives/girlfriend over to ring in the new year with us. There were a few additions as well: Bob's sister & fiance, and my sister & her boyfriend. It was a blast! We may be grown ups with our marital statuses, but it didn't keep us from having a little college-esque fun.

Rachie & me about to toast to 2008!

Rach & Shaun... too cute!

The Wii

We love "The Wii!" RJ thinks it's funny that I don't just say "Wii," but it is THE Wii!

We bought the gaming system in August, and ever since we've become obsessed. More so, Mike's become obsessed, but it really is a wonderful thing. We now attract people to come to our house, not with our charm or friendliness or fun personalities, but we attract them with the Wii! I just had to post this picture-- Mike and Cam rocking out on their guitars.

They are just like kids when it comes to this thing. I'm pretty sure we should be receiving commissions from Nintendo because everyone who plays it wants one.

(Disclaimer: This is actually Guitar Hero on XBox at the Lands' house, but Mike became a rockstar because of the Wii.)
