P.S.A.

This is my Public Service Announcement about return policies. Do you pay attention to them?

Mike and I did not register at Target when we got married because of the horror stories we heard about their policies. Like, couples have a restricted amount of returns they can make on a registry. After a certain number, you're stuck with the items. Are you kidding me??

Well, that advice was compounded this week when my parents tried to return dished they'd purchased for their new house. Mom found ones she loved more, but by the time she found them and returned to Target, it had been 102 days. Yes, they have a 90 day return policy.

So, what are their options?

  • They cannot return the dishes with a receipt.

  • So pretend they don't have a receipt... Trying to return items without a receipt, every individual is only allowed to return TWO items per year.

  • Okay, fine, they'll return two boxes of dishes per person.

  • Nope! Your two items per year are limited to $35 a piece. Of course the dishes cost more than $35 for a set of 4!

So, customer service, management, even corporate customer service said "Sorry, you're stuck with the dishes you don't want........ even though they are brand new. And even though they are still on our shelves selling at full price." Yep, Target is like THAT.

So beware!

And if you or anyone you know likes these dishes, my mom would love to sell them... probably at a discount... because otherwise she'll be keeping them instead of the ones she really wants.

I gotta say...I think their return policy sucks, too.
